Why are more and more families abandoning the big cities and moving to live in small communities and moshavim?
Spoiler: not just because of the privacy, convenience and price.
It turns out that in recent years you can see a trend where many families understand that in small communities, education is more invested and the community is the best thing that can happen to them.
Here are a few things we checked and found. You'll be surprised.

Personal education, anyone?

In most big cities, schools can sometimes be crowded and overloaded, and teachers usually drown in the workload. But in small communities, what is called "the opposite is true".
The teachers, parents and students are not just more names on lists – they know each other,
They create a shared educational community, where each student is a world unto themselves.
When everyone knows everyone, a learning environment is created that is both familial and professional,
with lots of mutual help and caring.

There are quite a few communities where education is at the highest level, with excellent programs, enriching classes and teachers who feel the mission every day.

Living here is fun: community family

While in large cities most of the population has relatively private lives, without even knowing their closest neighbors (maybe except for the times when they ask for sugar. Do people still do that?)
In small communities the community becomes an integral part of daily life.

"A close neighbor is better than a distant brother" – everyone lives together, helps each other, watches the neighbors' children, and smiles hello every morning, for real. Life is conducted with a feeling of authentic family, and this is what turns the community into one big family.

Judea and Samaria: community with values

In the communities of Judea and Samaria, the term "community" takes on an additional dimension.
It's not just a place to live, but also a home for values and meaning.
According to data from the Yesha Council website, in the Samaria communities the educational investment per child is among the highest in the country (!) with an emphasis on social activities that connect children to the values on which their parents grew up.
This is a community that talks about love of the land, about contribution, about faith. Or in the words of one of the community leaders: "We are not just educating children, we are educating a generation that understands what mission is and what giving is."
Who are we to argue?

And that's not all. According to reports from the Ministry of Education and the Central Bureau of Statistics, the level of matriculation eligibility in the communities of Judea and Samaria exceeds the national average. For example, in a community like Karnei Shomron, matriculation eligibility rates reach about 93%, compared to the lower national average.

And with all this, the education system in Judea and Samaria focuses not only on academic excellence, but also on education for values and contribution to the community.

Quality of life? Check!

According to a report by the Central Bureau of Statistics from 2023, residents of small communities report higher levels of satisfaction with their lives compared to city residents.

Studies show that living in a less crowded environment, with lots of nature around and the ability to go out for outdoor activities, can improve our mental and physical health.
Thus children living in communities enjoy spending more time in outdoor games and movement, something that really helps their development in a positive and healthy way.

In an era where the pace of life feels like one big race (without the million at the end), many of us are looking for a home where we can be ourselves, breathe freely and rely on the environment in which we are raising our children.
At the end of the day, the more you think about it and see the reality on the ground, you discover that living in a small community has tremendous value. And most importantly? It really feels like home.
